LF re-enactment groups in Russia, France and California

Post by Geoff Pycroft »

It's been some considerable time since we heard from any of the LF re-enactment groups based in Russia, France and California.
On the off chance that they are aware of this new message /discussion board, it would be delightful to hear from anyone still involved with these groups. 😊
Does the chap in California still own the Ferret Scout car we had in the Recce Platoon out in Hong Kong?

Salient Remembrance Detachment had a feature I migrated to the new site. They have their own website (which is pretty decent) right here which is linked from our site.

Who would have normally got in touch with these? I can send a message from the admin email address to inform them of the recent changes.

There is another feature for Moscow that was migrated.

If I recall correctly there was a folder for California but no information was within it.

Sam
The groups in the past were in regular direct contact with the late Capt Joe Eastwood BEM.
It would be a good idea perhaps, to try and make contact again where possible?
The chap in California was at one time in regular contact with Dennis Laverick. Their are certainly a number of photographs somewhere on the legacy website sent in by the chap (Chinese name from memory). He regularly attended cavalcades in Los Angeles, where he showcased the Ferret Scout Car. Again, he was at one point in contact with Colin Boutty (REME attached to 1LF), who used to service the Ferret. 😊
Sadly as folk passed, contact was lost with these people. Their is certainly a photograph somewhere on the legacy website of Colin Boutty with the Ferret, when being serviced.

I know the image you refer to - it's on Colin's page

I'll take a look for the California stuff... perhaps it's stored in another folder (the folders on the legacy site we're not exactly orderly(!))
